# Inline mode

> Put the chat panel inside an element on your page instead of a floating launcher.

Inline mode renders the chat panel inside an element that you choose. Use it when the chat is part of the page, for example on a help center page or in a column of a pricing page.

Load the script without `data-api-key`, so it starts no floating widget. Then call `init` with `mode: 'inline'` when the script is ready.

```html theme={"dark"}
<div id="support-chat" style="height: 560px"></div>
<script src="https://api.paperlinkai.com/widget.js" async></script>
<script>
  window.PaperlinkAIChatQueue = window.PaperlinkAIChatQueue || [];
  window.PaperlinkAIChatQueue.push(function (PaperlinkAIChat) {
    PaperlinkAIChat.init({
      apiKey: 'pl_live_...',
      mode: 'inline',
      container: document.getElementById('support-chat'),
    });
  });
</script>
```

For the queue and the other ways to start the widget from code, see [Start the widget from your code](https://paperlinkai.com/docs/developers/install/script-tag.md#start-the-widget-from-your-code).

> [!WARNING]
>
> If the container has no height, the panel has no visible area. Set a height on the container, for example `style="height: 560px"`.

## Behavior

* The widget fills the container.
* The widget shows no launcher and no close button.
* `open()` and `close()` do nothing.
* The panel is not modal. Visitors can still use the rest of the page.
* An inline widget and a floating widget for the same bot on one page share one conversation.
