# Error states and copy

> The exact text a visitor reads for each widget error, and what you do about it.

This page lists every error that the widget shows to a visitor. Use it to find the cause of a message that a visitor reports. Then use it to fix the cause.

## Errors and fixes

| Condition | What the visitor reads | What you do |
| - | - | - |
| Visitor sends too many messages (429) | You're sending messages quickly. Wait a moment and try again. | Nothing. The limit is 20 messages per minute for each visitor. |
| Reply limit reached | This assistant can't answer more questions right now. The widget also shows your contact card. | Open Billing. Buy a reply pack or change your plan. |
| Subscription inactive (no plan yet, paused, cancelled or expired) | This assistant is unavailable right now. Please contact the team directly. The widget also shows your contact card. | No plan yet: an Admin signs in and picks a plan in the plan picker. The dashboard does not open until checkout is complete. Paused, cancelled or expired: open Billing and fix the payment or pick a plan. |
| Site is not an allowed origin (403) | This website isn't allowed to use this assistant. | Add the site to your allowed origins. |
| Turnstile check fails in the browser (timeout, load failure, too many checks from one network, or a page that is not `http` or `https`) | We couldn't verify this browser. Refresh the page and try again. | Ask the visitor to refresh. Check your CSP. See the note after this table. |
| Turnstile check refuses the site, or the API rejects the token (403) | This website isn't allowed to use this assistant. | Check that your allowed origins include the exact origin of the page. |
| Answer stops part way | The answer was cut off. Please try again. | Nothing in most cases. Check the status page if it repeats. |
| Visitor is offline or the API is not reachable | Can't reach the assistant. Check your connection and try again. | Check your CSP `connect-src` and the status page. |
| Wrong or revoked API key (401, or the Turnstile code `TURNSTILE_INVALID_KEY`) | This assistant is not configured correctly (invalid API key). | Check the key in your page. Create a new key if the old one was revoked. |
| Any other error | Something went wrong. Please try again. | Check the status page. Contact support if it repeats. |

>
> For a Turnstile failure, confirm that your CSP allows `https://api.paperlinkai.com` in `frame-src`. The check runs in a frame from that origin. See [Content Security Policy](https://paperlinkai.com/docs/developers/security/csp.md).

## Status link

Most errors show the link "Check Paperlink AI service status" under the message. The link opens `https://status.paperlinkai.com`. These errors are not outages. The widget does not show the link for them: rate limit, reply limit, allowed origin, inactive subscription, invalid key and cancelled request.
