# Delete a document

> Remove a document from your bot, and learn what Paperlink AI deletes when you do.

Delete a document when your bot must stop using it. If you only want a fresh read of the document, use Reprocess instead.

## What delete does

When you delete a document, Paperlink AI removes these items:

* The search entries for the document
* The stored copy of the document
* The extracted text

Paperlink AI also clears cached answers at once, and your knowledge page usage drops at once. Backups expire within 30 days.

## Delete a document

> [!WARNING]
>
> You cannot undo a delete. The bot stops answering from the document right away.

**1. Open Documents**

Select **Documents** in the dashboard sidebar.

**2. Select the trash icon**

Select the trash icon on the document row.

**3. Confirm**

The dashboard shows this message:

> The bot stops answering from this document right away. This can't be undone.

Confirm to delete the document.

## Reprocess instead

Select **Reprocess** (the circular arrow) to read the document again without removing it. The bot keeps answering from the old text until the new text replaces it.
