This page lists the changes that customers can see. The newest change is first.
Website import addresses
You can now import pages from more websites. Before, Paperlink AI did not import social networks, some large platforms, addresses on workers.dev and pages.dev, or paperlinkai.com. Imported pages use knowledge pages and the processing budget, as usual. Most social networks block crawlers in robots.txt or show a login page, so their pages usually still cannot be imported. Private network addresses also cannot be imported. See Import a website.
Widget note removed
The widget does not show the note “Answers come from this organization’s documents and can be wrong. Check the cited source.” above the message box now. The widget does not show source documents to visitors, so the note was not correct. See the widget changelog.
Processing budget
When processing fails before the parser completes, the pages do not count toward your monthly processing budget. This includes a file that the parser cannot read. This applies to uploads, reprocessing and website pages. Before, each failed try counted, so failed tries could use up the budget. See Processing and knowledge pages.
Website import pages
Pages that you import from a website are now ready after the import. Before, each imported page showed Failed with the message “We couldn’t read this MD file”. If your pages show this message, select Update now on the website row to import them again. After you select Save in the page picker, the window now closes. Before, it showed “Website busy” for a short time. See Import a website.
Sign up with Google or Microsoft
When you sign up with Google or Microsoft, Paperlink AI now opens the page where you create your workspace. Before, the sign-in page opened again, and a second sign-in with Google or Microsoft did not work. If you signed in before but did not create a workspace, the same page opens when you sign in. See Quickstart.
Bots on the plans
The plan cards, the plan table and the onboarding plan picker do not show a number of bots now. Before, they showed 3 bots on Growth and 10 bots on Scale, but each workspace has one bot on every plan. The prices and the other limits do not change. More than one bot is planned for Growth and above. See Plans and the trial.
Website import
You can now import the public pages of your docs or help center. Select Add website in the Websites card on the Documents page. Paperlink AI updates the pages on a schedule that depends on your plan. See Import a website.
Widget install
The script tag is the only way to install the widget. The npm package @paperlinkai/chat is not supported, and its old releases on npm do not work. If your site uses the package, replace it with the script tag. Developers can now start the widget from their own code with the script tag, run code when the script is ready, and download TypeScript types. The standard snippet does not change. See Install with a script tag and the widget changelog.
Trial knowledge pages
During the trial, each plan includes 100 knowledge pages. Before, the dashboard showed the knowledge pages of the plan that you picked, for example 5,000 on Growth, and uploads used that limit. Now the trial banner, the usage bars and the upload check use 100 knowledge pages until the trial ends. Documents that you uploaded before this change stay in your workspace. If you have more than 100 knowledge pages, you cannot add or reprocess documents until the trial ends. To add documents during the trial, delete documents. When the trial ends, your plan’s limit applies. See Plans and the trial.
Bot check on your site
The Turnstile bot check now runs in a small frame from https://api.paperlinkai.com. Before, the check ran on your page and failed on most sites, so visitors could not start a chat. If your site sets a Content Security Policy, add https://api.paperlinkai.com to frame-src. See Content Security Policy and the widget changelog.
Widget script tag
If you load the widget script from a subpath, for example /dev-api/widget.js, the widget now sends its requests under that subpath. Before, it used only the origin of the script. For the standard snippet with https://api.paperlinkai.com/widget.js, nothing changes. See the widget changelog for the details.
Reply pack price
A reply pack now costs $15 for 1,000 extra replies. Packs that you bought before this change keep all of their replies. The plan prices and the monthly reply allowances do not change.
Resend the sign-up code
When you sign up with your email, you can select Resend code if the 6-digit code does not arrive. You can resend the code after 30 seconds. The sign-up and sign-in code pages also tell you to look in your spam or junk folder.
Sign-in codes for new browsers
When you sign in with a password in a new browser, you type a 6-digit code that we email to you. If you get a code and you did not try to sign in, reset your password. The new Security page in the dashboard sidebar shows the devices that are signed in. You can sign out of one device or of all other devices.
Chat icon preview
When you do not upload a chat icon, the preview in Settings shows your workspace logo. This is the same image that the widget shows. A note under the preview tells you that the widget uses your workspace logo.
Model name removed
The Playground and the Conversations page do not show the name of the AI model. The answers do not change.
Simpler workspace setup and Terms
To create your workspace, you enter only your company or team name. If you have an invitation or already belong to a workspace, you select it on the same page. You accept the Terms of Service one time, and the acceptance applies to all of your workspaces. If you sign up with your work email and open the dashboard within 7 days, it does not ask you to accept the Terms again. This is also true on a different browser or device.
Subscription ended banner
When a subscription is cancelled or expired, the dashboard shows a banner on every page. The banner tells you that the widget does not answer visitors. Admins get a “Choose a plan” link to the Billing page. Members see a message to ask an Admin and a “View billing” link.
Dashboard tour
The first time that you open the dashboard, a short tour shows how to upload documents, test in the Playground and embed the widget. Each person in your workspace sees the tour one time.
Pick a plan at sign-up
New workspaces pick a plan and add a card during sign-up. The trial is 7 days, and we charge the card when it ends. During the trial, the dashboard banner shows the date of the charge. If you cancel during the trial, the banner tells you that we do not charge your card. The dashboard opens after checkout. The sign-up and sign-in pages ask for your work email. Trial reminders go only to workspaces with a card on file. The install tip and the weekly report go to workspaces with a card on file and to Enterprise workspaces.
About page
The Paperlink AI website has an About page at paperlinkai.com/about. It tells you why we made Paperlink AI, the principles that we follow and the company that makes it.
Documentation, #95 and #96
The documentation is public at paperlinkai.com/docs. It covers the dashboard, the widget and the developer setup.
Returning visitors, #94
A visitor who returns within 30 days of last use continues the same conversation. The widget keeps the conversation in the browser of the visitor.
Playground, #93
The Playground refuses new questions when your workspace reaches its reply limit. Wait for the next period, buy a reply pack or upgrade to resume it.
Chat icon, #89
You can upload a custom chat icon for the widget in Settings.
Landing page, #74 to #87
The Paperlink AI website has a new landing page, a pricing page and a contact page.
Needs review, #82
Visitors can rate an answer with a thumbs up or thumbs down. Thumbs-down answers appear in the new Needs review page, with the reason that the visitor gave.
Document versions, #80, #83 and #84
You can set an effective date on a document and mark that it supersedes another document. The bot then uses the newer document when sources conflict. The Documents page also warns you when two documents look like versions of the same document.
Status page, #63
The public status page at status.paperlinkai.com shows the state of the widget. The widget links to it when it shows an error.
Widget accessibility, #60
The widget targets WCAG 2.1 AA. The update adds keyboard focus handling, better color contrast and announcements for screen readers.
Notifications and weekly report, #48
Paperlink AI sends email notifications for usage, documents and your trial. It also sends a weekly report.
Unanswered report, #46
The Unanswered page shows the questions that your bot could not answer. Every plan sees the count and the top 3 questions.
